Title: Corporate Controller
Location: Chicago, Illinois

The Opportunity | Corporate Controller

We are searching for a Corporate Controller to run a startup property and operations company in the Mid-West market. You will have the ability to head the financials as it relates to individual and multi-site outlays, payables and budgets, plus more. This role reports directly to the COO, and has upward mobility from the Corporate Controller role into the C-Suite.

  • Preliminary budget preparation for all communities
  • Monitoring of cash position of all communities
  • Review all community petty cash reconciliation as needed, and transfer funds as approved
  • Open new bank accounts for buildings in development (petty cash, main checking and payroll account)
  • Reconciliation of general ledgers
  • Prepare monthly journal entries
  • Safeguard assets and assure accurate recording of all transactions by implementing disciplines of internal audits, controls and checks across all divisions
  • Manage the productivity for the entire accounting department
  • Management of accounts payable, cash disbursements, invoicing/billing, credits and collections, payroll, general & entity accounting
  • Develop monthly financial records for Executive Directors and Board of Directors
  • Assure financial plans are consistent with organizational goals
  • Interface with outside audit firms(s), banks and lessors, casualty/liability insurance agent(s), credit card companies, and collection agencies
  • Provide a visionary and leadership role
  • Understand the Development environment

Education and Experience for the Senior Controller:
  • Bachelor Degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university;
  • Master’s preferred;
  • Five or more related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • CPA license
  • Knowledge of Assisted Living / healthcare accounting is a must
